What is ADALTIM?

ADALTIM (Algorithms and impact DAta Lake for Transformative Impact Measurement) is an EU-funded project that aims to redefine social impact measurement and rating systems for the impact investing sector. It will create a new, mission-driven company tasked to deliver knowledge-intensive, AI-powered impact ratings that stand out for the integrity, transparency, and comparability of the measurements they rely on. 

Traditional ESG ratings fail to capture the real value generated by most social-purpose entities (SPEs). They overemphasise environmental over social impact, narrow their focus around compliance and short-term risk-mitigation achievements versus true change, and are characterized by methodological inconsistencies or opacity.

With a radical vision for the impact citizens should expect from social economy actors, ADALTIM aims at stimulating the growth of an ecosystem of investors and companies truthfully committed to address today’s most urgent societal challenges.

How It Works:

The Impact Rating Platform (IRP) is powered by an Impact Data Lake — a dynamic repository combining harmonised impact metrics with primary and secondary impact data. It enables:

Benchmarking against context-specific social impact gaps and priorities;

Synthetic aggregation of social impact performance;

Integration of quantitative and qualitative data within the rating process.

This system will enable financial operators to evaluate both the actual and potential impact of investments.

It also allows social purpose entities to communicate their societal value in a more cost-effective, accessible and market-ready way.
